SHL
Established in 1975, the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), is the elite level for professional ice hockey teams in Sweden. In more than 40 years of competition, some of the greatest players in the game have graced the ice in this division and we’ve seen some thrilling encounters in that time. Moving forward, we can expect to witness even more thrills and, thanks to Unibet TV, we don’t need to miss out on the action. The live stream is available to all customers and it’s here to back up a comprehensive set of betting markets for all SHL games.
Current Format
The existing SHL format allows for 14 teams to take part and, during the regular season, each side will play each other four times. Over a long opening campaign from September through to March, every team will play 52 matches and, at the end of that sequence, the top ten sides will be involved in a series of playoff rounds.
Eventually, two sides will remain and they will take each other on in a best of seven finals series. The first team to four games will therefore win the SHL Championship for that season.
That gives us a lot of ice hockey to work through in both the regular and post season portion of this tournament. At every step, Unibet will be standing by with an extensive set of betting markets along with competitive odds. Remember too that Unibet TV is available to all of our account holders and it can help you keep pace with the fast developing action on the ice.
Sides in Contention
Unibet will naturally publish outright winner odds for all 14 teams involved in the Swedish Hockey League and customers can use those figures, together with their own research, as they look to pick the winner.
In terms of historical results, statistics up to and including the 2019/20 season show that Djurgardens IF are currently the most successful side in the history of the Swedish hockey league with 16 titles. Looking to catch them up in the near future are Brynas IF with 13 wins while Gota and Farjestad have eight trophies apiece.
Other teams to have won the SHL Championship on multiple occasions include AIK, Hammarby, HV71 and Malmo. Previous success isn’t going to be a guarantee of future title triumphs but studying the list of more recent winners may help when doing your own research into immediate form.
Remember, you can see how your picks play out when you tune in to watch the action on Unibet TV. To access the stream while considering your betting options, please take a moment to check out the following section and we’ll talk you through our package.
Betting on and Watching Live SHL Action
Outright markets for the Swedish Hockey League offer the common starting point for many of our customers. Bettors can then assess the comparative qualities of the 14 teams taking part before making their decision as to who they think will win.
Those outright options will continue once the SHL regular season has started and they will remain in place until such time as the champion has been crowned. By that time, the focus will have switched with match betting taking over and those moneyline bets will be listed for every single game in the SHL campaign.
Alongside the match result, Unibet customers will have the chance to consider a number of prop bets including Correct Score and Total Goals. Matches in the SHL will also be picked up in the live section of our sportsbook with the majority of those markets remaining in place once the game has started.
Unibet TV can provide an added bonus for live bettors as it will update those in play odds as the game progresses. Mobile devices are the best partners for live selections but the stream can also be picked up by laptop or desktop pc,
To access the live service, all that we ask is that you are a Unibet customer with funds in your account or that you have placed a cash bet within the previous 24 hours. Comply with one of those simple requests and a host of live Swedish Hockey League action is at your fingertips.
